Introduction

 

We don't ship any custom app-specific roles with Discovery Admin! This eliminates the need for User Administration.


You can do everything you need to do with Discovery Admin, with the following out-of-the-box roles:

- discovery_admin

- itil


The out-of-the-box discovery_admin role is needed specifically for the Discovery Admin App, including its execution and administration.

The out-of-the-box itil role is needed to be able to view and manage Incidents (generated by Discovery Admin).


Since it is very common for:

- a ServiceNow Discovery Administrator to already have the discovery_admin and the itil role

- anyone working on Incidents to already have the itil role

... there is no additional User Administration needed.


 

Additional Considerations

 

Additionally, Dashboards are created on either the Log Analysis Table or the Incident Table, both of which are accessible via the out-of-the-box itil role.

This way, Dashboards created for Discovery Admin don't need additional User Administration either.


 

NOTE

 

The out-of-the-box admin role is ONLY needed to install and upgrade Discovery Admin
