Log Analysis Table - Report Templates
Introduction | Importing Reports | Adding Reports to Dashboard | IMPORTANT
Introduction
Referencing the instructions for creating a report on the Log Analysis Table, we have pre-created 14 Reports that can be imported via XML and directly added to any Dashboard / Dashboard Tab in ServiceNow.
These reports provide insights into ALL the Incident Error Codes identified by Discovery Admin and break them down into logical categories to simplify the prioritization of which Incident Error Codes to focus on.
These 14 reports are captured in 1 XML. They are created in the GLOBAL Scope and have the suffix of 'TEMPLATE' in their name.
Please contact your Discovery Admin point-of-contact to get a copy of these reports.
Importing Reports
Importing the XML is similar to importing any XML into the ServiceNow Instance.
NOTE: You need to be a Platform Admin to be able to import the XML.
Steps:
Navigate to the List View of Table: Reports [sys_report]
Right-click the Column Header
Click 'Import XML'
Click 'Browse...' to choose the XML File
Click 'Upload' to upload the XML File
Adding Reports to Dashboard
Once these reports are imported, they can be added to any Dashboard in ServiceNow.
NOTE:
Before completing the steps below:
create a new Dashboard
OR
create a New Tab in an existing Dashboard
Since Dashboards are not captured in Update Sets, please see the following Video (1 min :: 20 secs) if a Dashboard created in non-Prod needs to be migrated to Prod.
NOTE:
Click the 'PLUS-SIGN' to 'Add Widgets'
Under the 'Widget Category', select 'Reports'
Expand the filter by clicking the 'FILTER-FUNNEL'
Change the selection from 'Created by: Me' to 'Created by: Anyone'
Change the selection from 'Table: Select a table'
Search for the Table: Log Analysis [x_qune_da_log_analysis]
Click on 'Apply'
IMPORTANT: We recommend adding the reports to the Dashboard / Dashboard Tab in the following (REVERSE) order so that they are logically presented on the Dashboard in ascending order of the ServiceNow Discovery Phase.
Add the Reports to the Dashboard by Selecting the Report and Clicking 'Add' following the order below:
DA: Pattern (Phase 5) Errors_TEMPLATE
DA: Other Exploration (Phase 4) Errors_TEMPLATE
DA: SSH Exploration (Phase 4) Errors_TEMPLATE
DA: WMI Exploration (Phase 4) Errors_TEMPLATE
DA: Identification (Phase 3) Errors_TEMPLATE
DA: Other Classification (Phase 2) Errors_TEMPLATE
DA: SNMP Classification (Phase 2) Errors without CMDB Lookup_TEMPLATE
DA: SNMP Classification (Phase 2) Errors with CMDB Lookup_TEMPLATE
DA: SSH Classification (Phase 2) Errors without CMDB Lookup_TEMPLATE
DA: SSH Classification (Phase 2) Errors with CMDB Lookup_TEMPLATE
DA: WMI Classification (Phase 2) Errors without CMDB Lookup_TEMPLATE
DA: WMI Classification (Phase 2) Errors with CMDB Lookup_TEMPLATE
DA: Eliminate Noise (Ignore non-actionable Errors)_TEMPLATE
DA: Design (Phase 0) and Shazzam (Phase 1) Errors_TEMPLATE
After adding the above reports to the Dashboard
Click the Three Lines (Configuration) on the Top Right of the Screen
Click on the '2x2' (4 boxes) Quick Layout to format the Dashboard
As a result, the reports will be displayed in a 2x7 matrix in the following order:
DA: Design>Phase 0>Shazzam>Phase 1 | DA: Eliminate Noise>Ignore
DA: WMI>Phase 2>with>Lookup | DA: WMI>Phase 2>without>Lookup
DA: SSH>Phase 2>with>Lookup | DA: SSH>Phase 2>without>Lookup
DA: SNMP>Phase 2>with>Lookup | DA: SNMP>Phase 2>without>Lookup
DA: Other>Phase 2 | DA: Identification>All>Phase 3
DA: WMI>Phase 4 | DA: SSH>Phase 4
DA: Other>Phase 4 | DA: Pattern>All>Phase 5
IMPORTANT
DO NOT MODIFY THESE REPORT TEMPLATES.
Instead, simply insert-and-stay to make a copy of the relevant reports and modify those copies. These copies can be renamed and modified thereafter.
This provides a balance between retaining the consistency in the templates provided by us and your ability to quickly enhance any report, to align with specific Incident Error Codes generated by Discovery Admin in your ServiceNow Instance.
